On May 31, 2019, the final defense of the fourth joint graduation design of cross-straits architectural universities was held in the school of architecture of Huaqiao University, jointly held by Chang 'an University, Suzhou University of Science and Technology, Huaqiao University and National Quemoy University. Under the guidance of Professor Hou Quanhua, Associate Professor Zhang Jianxin and teacher Guo Qiwei, 15 undergraduate students of urban and rural planning major in architecture school of Chang’an University completed the related achievements of this joint graduation project and participated in the final oral defense.
The joint graduation project was sponsored by the Chang 'an University, focused on the national rural revitalization strategy, combining the reality of the western region, for the loess plateau gully region livable rural planning and design path. The title of this joint graduation project is Planning and Design of Paper Mill Village in Chengguan Street, Xunyi County, Xianyang City . Around 50 teachers and students from four cross-straits universities have took part in the graduation design. From February 28, 2019 to March 2, 2019, the opening meeting was held in chang 'an university, then the mid-term defense was held in Chang 'an University on April 20, 2019, and the final defense was held in Huaqiao University on May 31, 2019.
Final defense ceremony of the fourth joint graduation design of cross-straits architectural universities was hosted by Associate Professor Lin Xiang from the urban planning department of Huaqiao University. First, participators for the defense ceremony were introduced, then Professor Bian Jingwei, the honorary dean of architecture school of Huaqiao University delivered a speech. Professor Bian welcomed the teachers and students, gave a good evaluation of design results. He hopes to deepen cooperation and promote the improvement of teaching in various schools continuously. Then the representative teachers made brief comments on the joint graduation process and put forward some suggestions. Finally, Associate Professor Lin Xiang explained related requirements of the final defense. Invited defense judges include Wang Xiaohui -General Manager from Shenzhen Leiao Planning and Design Consulting co., LTD. Xiamen Branch; Su beiqing-Chief Planner of Jinjiang Urban Planning and Design Institute; Professor Bian Jingwei,Associate Professor Lin Xiang and Associate Professor Xiao Ming from Huaqiao University; Associate Professor Zeng Yiren and Associate Professor Zhang Xufu from National Quemoy University;Dr. Pan Bin and Dr. Liu Yushu from Suzhou University of Science and Technology; Professor Hou Quanhua, Associate Professor Zhang Jianxin and teacher Guo Qiwei from Chang’an University. The final defense was divided into two groups. Each graduation team reported the design results, and the defense committee asked questions and commented.
After the final oral defense, a teaching seminar for planning major was held by the four participated universities. Seminar discussed the major teaching system, teaching for rural planning, joint graduation design and other issues under the background of land and spacial planning.Through this joint graduation project, it promotes the communication between teachers and students across the straits, broadens students' horizon, and explores the construction of collaborative innovation education system.
