On April 3rd, 2019, at the invitation of Architecture School of Chang 'an University, Mr. Douglas J. King, who is design director of the board of American architectural registrars, has visited our school for academic communication.
Accompanied by Teacher Wang Shaorui, Ren Juan and Fu Dongxue of the Department of Architecture, Mr. Douglas J. King visited the School of Architecture in Weishui campus of Chang 'an University, and understood the basic situation of Chang 'an university and the Architecture School, as well as compared the similarities and differences of undergraduate architectural educations between China and America.
On the afternoon of April 3rd, Mr. Douglas J. King and vice President of Architecture School Wang Nong were invited to attend the International Conference of Weiyang District Hospital Design, which held by the government of Weiyang District of Xi 'an.At the meeting, Mr. Douglas J. King had in-depth idea exchange with Mayor of Weiyang district Liang Wanqing, Deputy Mayors of Weiyang district Sun Zhiqun，Liu fang, and designers of Weiyang District Hospital. Mr. Douglas J. King also provided suggestions for the development of health cause of Weiyang district.
On the evening of April 3rd, Mr. Douglas J.King gave a lecture titled on the topic of High Rise Urban Healthcare & the Future of Eldercare Design . Mr. Douglas J.King detailed introduces the American architectural design method of healthcare facilities, which combines the community participation and lifelong health and wellbeing. In the meanwhile, manyexcellentcontemporary hospitalbuildingworks also analyzed by Mr. Douglas J.King. After the lecture, Mr. Douglas J.King discussed and communicated with students about some common concerns about the design of healthcare facilities .

Mr. Douglas J. King has Master of Architecture degree from University of Detroit .He is the U.S. national architectural registration committee member, a former chief architect of March, AIA, NCARB, ACHA. He mainly engaged in the design and research of healthcare facilities. He has hosted the New Replacement Hospital and other well-known international projects. He is also active in the academic works of American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA), participated in the joint teaching of U.S. universities(e.g. University of Kansas and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign ) , and guided students to win awards in the medical architecture design competition win many times.
