October 25th - 27th in 2019, at the invitation of School of Architecture of Chang’an University, Shauna Corry, dean of School of Art and Architecture Design, University of Idaho, USA, and Randall Teal, dean of the Department of Architecture and associate professor Hu Xiao visited School of Architecture of Chang’an University to discuss the deepening of cooperation. On the afternoon of 27th, dean Shauna Corry and his delegation held a symposium with School of Architecture. The symposium was held in the conference room of School of Architecture. Liu Qibo, vice President of School of Architecture, Yu Xiaohui, assistant to the dean, Zhang Lei, director of the Department of Architecture, Jing Xiaopeng, director of the Department of Urban and Rural Planning, and teachers' representatives Liu Ming and Fu Dongxue participated in the discussion and exchange to further promote the exchange and cooperation between the two schools of architecture. Associate professor Hu Xiao and teacher Liu Ming served as the interpreter of the symposium.

Shauna Corry, dean of School of Art and Architecture Design, University of Idaho, introduced the basic situation and school-running characteristics of the school. Randall Teal, dean of the Department of Architecture, focused on the general situation and curriculum system of the department.
Liu Qibo, vice President of School of Architecture of Chang’an University, introduced the history, talent training, scientific research and future development of School of Architecture. At the same time, Jing Xiaopeng, director of the Department of Urban and Rural planning, and Zhang Lei, director of the Department of Architecture respectively introduced the basic situation of two departments, and expressed their willingness to cooperate in student training, scientific research and teacher exchanges.
A detailed in-depth discussions was taken on architecture, urban and rural planning and environmental design (landscape architecture) including undergraduate and master's phase of the joint training with the degree of mutual recognition, longed for class and online education, international joint design and training camp, visits by teachers and scientific research cooperation in specific cooperation projects, and the subsequent will further determine the content of the agreement the two schools exchange programs. Both sides indicated that they would complete the signing of the framework of the cooperation agreement as soon as possible and actively promote the smooth implementation of all contents.
In June 2018, associate professor Hu Xiao of School of Art and Architecture Design, University of Idaho, conducted a 3-week academic exchange activity in School of Architecture of Chang’an University (hosting the international joint design workshop on "Metro Changing the City -- urban Design Renewal and Development of Areas along Xi'an Friendship Road"). Through this joint teaching activity, the two universities have enhanced the exchange and established a profound friendship.
