On the morning of March 6, the opening ceremony of the fifth joint graduation design of the western nine universities + "Planner" magazine (" 9 + 1 ") teaching union of architecture majors in 2020 and "ZhongSheng Cup" design competition was successfully held. This joint graduation project was jointly undertaken by 11 universities in the western region, including Chang’an University, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Sichuan University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Northwest University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Xinjiang University, Yunnan University, Xihua University and Lanzhou University of Technology. The opening ceremony was conducted on the online platform of Tencent conference, with the theme of "conceptual design of characteristic urban development in Wujiaba river channel dense area in Kunming". More than 130 teachers and students from 11 universities attended the conference. Liu Qibo and Yu Kanhua, deputy deans of School of Architecture, Lin Gaorui, dean of Department of Urban Planning and Design, Yu Xiaohui, assistant dean of School of Architecture, design instructors Xu Juan, Lu Ziliang, Liu Dan, Zhang Wenting and 24 students attended the activity.
At the opening ceremony, Zhang Jun, dean of School of Architecture and Planning, Yunnan University, Liu Qibo, deputy dean of School of Architecture, Chang’an University, and Huang Lixin, senior urban construction expert, made speeches. President Zhang Jun briefly elaborated on the face of the epidemic, the face of the rapid development of urbanization, in-depth thinking of urban security, life security, ecological security, explore the various types of space design and life affinity, diversity and other important meaning of the content, expressed good wishes for the joint graduation project. Vice President Liu Qibo thanked the students and teachers of the alliance for their active participation. Although the epidemic has blocked the pace of field research by the teachers and students, they will overcome difficulties, continue the spirit of the alliance's teaching activities, and achieve success. Teacher Gao Jin of Yunnan University described the past life of Kunming to the participants with deep feelings and beautiful language, just like a vivid historical picture scroll, and deepened the participants' understanding of "Gusu plateau" and "Yunjin flourishing scene". In the topic interpretation and question-answering stage, teacher Yang Qing of Yunnan University explained the topic selection and task book of the joint graduation project, interpreted the topic selection background and upper planning of the project, analyzed the current situation of the base and the current conflict focus, and deepened the understanding of the teachers and students to the competition.
