On June 8, teachers and students from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, Chang'an University, Northwest University, and Lanzhou University of Technology gathered online to hold the final defense of the 3rd 2020 Silk Road League of Urban-Rural Planning Education Joint Graduation Design. The design achievements of the eight groups are reported and exchanged. Hou Quanhua, Dean of the School of Architecture, as well as the teachers and students of the 2020 Silk Road League of Urban-Rural Planning Education Joint Graduation Design participated in the final defense.

The opening ceremony of the final defense was presided over by Liu Benteng, Vice Dean of the School of Design, Lanzhou University of Technology. Professor Li Hao, Vice Dean of the School of Architecture, Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, Professor Hou Quanhua, Dean of the School of Architecture, Chang’an University, and Li Shuheng, Vice Dean of the college of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Northwest University, delivered speeches in turn. They all believed that under the special circumstances of this year's "new situation, new requirements, and new ways", teachers and students can actively respond, overcome difficulties, and successfully completed the graduation project. Also, they affirmed the importance of the Silk Road Joint Graduation Design and looked forward to expanding more levels and types of professional teaching exchanges and cooperation.
Online Final Defense
This joint graduation design is sponsored by Northwest University. The opening ceremony, the mid-term and the final defense are carried out by Northwest University, Chang'an University and Lanzhou University of Technology. The design topic is "Urban Design of the Comprehensive Business District in front of T5 Station of Airport New City in Xi Xian New Area". It requires planning and design with an international perspective and forward-looking development concept. Li Xin, Director of the TOD Research Center of the Northwest Branch of China Architecture, and 8 teachers from four universities were invited to serve as judges. The eight groups of students reported the design that were carefully completed in three months. The judges thought that the students in each group could actively cope with the various adverse factors of the epidemic, and the students’ design works achieved the expected results. The works had their own characteristics. Design ideas and concepts were clear and novel. The strategies were rich. In all, this design can play a positive role in the development and construction of the comprehensive business district in front of T5 station of Airport New City in Xi Xian New Area.
The closing ceremony of the final defense was presided over by Associate Professor Jing Xiaopeng, School of Architecture, Chang'an University. The representatives of the four universities spoke separately. They thanked the teachers for their careful training and students for the companionship. Moreover, they expected that the education league will become better and better. Professor Quan Dongji, Director of the Department of Urban and Rural Planning, Northwest University, on behalf of the organizer, summarized this joint event and thanked the teachers and students for their hard work. Associate Professor Zhang Xinhong, Director of the Department of Urban and Rural Planning, Lanzhou University of Technology, sent a sincere invitation to the teachers and students on behalf of the joint sponsorship in 2021.
The design team of Chang'an University was jointly directed by Jing Xiaopeng and Guo Qiwei. Group A includes Xue Ruishuang, Bai Jinbo, Zhang Ciyuan, Zhang Rongming, Hao Ketong and Wu Wei. Group B includes Pan Xiwen, Feng Jin, Zhen Ni, Chen Zizhuo , Wu Xu and Hu Jinming.
