On December 2nd, the Wild Goose Pagoda Forum on the Protection and Innovation of Urban and Rural Heritage & The First Postgraduate Academic Exchange Conference of the School of Architecture, jointly organized by the China-Portugal Science and Technology Cooperation Center for Conservation of Cultural Heritage along the Belt and Road and the School of Architecture of Chang'an University, was held at the School of Architecture of Chang'an University.

Wu Yongfa, the head of the China-Portugal Science and Technology Cooperation Center for Conservation of Cultural Heritage along the Belt and Road and the dean of the School of Architecture at Soochow University, Wu Yao, the deputy director of the joint laboratory and a professor at the School of Architecture at Soochow University, Niu Tingting, an associate professor and the director of the Anhui Research Base of the joint laboratory at Anhui Jianzhu University, Wu Lian, a professor and the director of the Xi'an Research Base of the joint laboratory and the School of Architecture at Chang'an University, Li Xianfeng, the secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Architecture at Chang'an University, Liu Peng, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee, Liu Qibo and Bai Hua, the vice deans of the School of Architecture, as well as experts in the field of cultural heritage protection from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, Northwest University, Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage, Xi'an Urban Planning and Design Institute, Xi'an Jiaotong University and other institutions attended this forum. More than 80 teachers and postgraduate students from the School of Architecture at Chang'an University participated in this forum.

Professor Wu Yongfa, the head of the China-Portugal Science and Technology Cooperation Center for Conservation of Cultural Heritage along the Belt and Road, delivered a speech online. He reviewed the development process of the China-Portugal Belt and Road Joint Laboratory and the Xi'an Research Base, expounded on the significant importance of the development of cultural heritage protection in Xi'an and even the northwest region, and extended his best wishes for the complete success of the forum.

This forum consisted of two main parts: keynote reports and postgraduate academic exchange meetings. In the keynote report session, 11 experts and scholars including Professor Wu Yao from the School of Architecture at Soochow University, Professor Quan Dongji from the School of Urban and Environmental Sciences at Northwest University, Bai Haifeng, the deputy dean of the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage, Liu Peng, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Architecture at Chang'an University, Associate Professor Niu Tingting from the School of Architecture and Planning at Anhui Jianzhu University, Jiang Yan, the dean of the Famous Historical and Cultural Cities Branch of the Xi'an Urban Planning and Design Institute, Professor Zhai Binqing from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Teacher Ju Kaifu from the School of Architecture at Soochow University, Associate Professor Wang Xinwen from the School of Architecture at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, Associate Professor Tan Jingbin from the School of Architecture at Chang'an University, and postgraduate representative Peng Chen respectively gave keynote reports. The report content focused on major issues such as the protection and utilization of famous historical and cultural cities, the utilization and display of archaeological sites, and the surveying, mapping and restoration of ancient buildings, and carried out academic exchange activities in the fields of theory and practice. The keynote reports were respectively chaired by Professor Wu Lian, the director of the Xi'an Research Base of the joint laboratory, and Professor Liu Qibo, the vice dean of the School of Architecture at Chang'an University.

In the postgraduate academic exchange session, 16 postgraduate representatives from the School of Architecture at Chang'an University reported on their latest research results around topics such as the research on the protection of historical cities along the Silk Road, the protection and inheritance of urban and rural historical culture, and regional culture and regional architecture. These academic reports fully demonstrated the educational achievements of the School of Architecture at Chang'an University in cultural heritage protection and innovation. The academic exchange session also invited some teacher representatives to form an expert jury to provide on-site comments and guidance on the reports and select first, second, and third prizes.
