Faculty and Students of the Department of Landscape Architecture Participate in the "1st Shaanxi Province Landscape Architecture Design Competition Award Ceremony" and Win Key Awards

On the afternoon of December 2, 2023, the award ceremony for the 1st Shaanxi Province Landscape Architecture Design Competition, themed "I Love Xi'an • Building a Beautiful Home," was held at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. The event was jointly organized by the Shaanxi Province Landscape Architecture Association and the Xi'an Municipal Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau. The ceremony was hosted by Hou Quancang, Secretary-General of the Shaanxi Province Landscape Architecture Association.

More than 300 people were invited to attend the event, including leaders from the Shaanxi Province Landscape Architecture Association, Shaanxi Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Xi'an Municipal Urban Management Bureau, and other related organizations, as well as award-winning representatives from 12 universities across the province that offer landscape architecture programs. Speeches were delivered by leaders from the Shaanxi Province Landscape Architecture Association, the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Shaanxi Bogu Lingjin Information Technology Co., Ltd., the Shaanxi Province Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute, and the School of Architecture at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology.

To implement the spirit of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development's "Notice on the First Batch of Urban Renewal Pilot Projects" and promote the implementation of the "14th Five-Year Plan for Urban Fine Management in Shaanxi Province," as well as to effectively promote the construction of "pocket parks," the competition organizing committee selected 9 projects from the 31 park construction plans for Xi'an in 2024-2025 to carry out the province's first landscape architecture design competition. A total of 769 participants registered for the competition. The organizing committee followed the principles of fairness and impartiality, developing the "Competition Design Proposal Evaluation Method" and the "Competition Design Proposal Evaluation Criteria." A judging panel of 20 renowned scholars and industry experts conducted a professional and comprehensive evaluation of the entries from both the student and professional categories. In the end, 89 student proposals and 49 professional proposals received awards.

Faculty and students from the Department of Landscape Architecture at our school actively participated in this competition, dedicating a significant amount of time to field research and completing multiple rounds of analysis and evaluation. They meticulously developed and submitted five design proposals. As a result, they won 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 2 Third Prizes, and 1 Excellence Award in the student category of the "1st Shaanxi Province Landscape Architecture Design Competition." Additionally, the Department of Landscape Architecture was honored with the "Outstanding Organization Award."

This competition has supported the implementation of Shaanxi Province's "14th Five-Year Plan" for housing and urban-rural development, emphasizing the political positioning and work goal orientation of "People-centered, cities built for the people." It further promoted the integration of "industry, academia, and research," creating an atmosphere and platform for the high-quality development of the landscape architecture industry in Shaanxi Province. Our faculty and students also expanded their landscape architecture perspectives through the challenges and inspiration of the competition, enhancing their sense of social responsibility, innovation, and practical abilities. Moving forward, they will continue to contribute to the high-quality development of the landscape architecture industry in Shaanxi Province through their ongoing learning and work.
