2025 "Inhabitation in Old Cities" Joint Graduation Design Final Report Meeting of Six Universities Successfully Held

At 3:00 p.m. on May 25, 2025, the final report meeting of the "Inhabitation in Old Cities" Joint Graduation Design of Six Universities, initiated by Hunan University and guided by the Housing and Community Planning Professional Committee of the Urban Planning Society of China, was held in the lecture hall of the Architecture Building in the West Courtyard of Chang'an University's Main Campus. About 30 representatives of teachers and students from six universities, including Hunan University, Beijing University of Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Chang'an University and Shenyang Jianzhu University, attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Professor Chen Wenliang, Vice Dean of the School of Architecture of Chang'an University.


During the achievement report and in-depth discussion, students from each university presented their graduation design achievements in turn, and the guiding teachers made in-depth comments focusing on the innovation of the scheme, cultural continuity and technology application.


After comprehensive evaluation, two graduation design works won the best achievements in their respective groups: "Charm of Han Dynasty Ruins, Leisure City in Green Fields – Protection and Renewal Design of Han Chang'an City Settlement" by Beijing University of Technology (Fanzhai Village Group, focusing on the renewal of large heritage sites) and "Streets Inherit Ancient Veins, Neighborhoods Embrace Diversified Lifestyles – Comprehensive Planning for Protection and Renewal of Beiyuanmen Historical and Cultural Block from a Multi-dimensional Interaction Perspective" by Chang'an University (Beiyuanmen Group, focusing on the activation of historical and cultural blocks).


Professor Chen Wenliang concluded, "This joint graduation design has provided diversified ideas for the protection and renewal of historical urban areas through inter-university cooperation. In the future, we need to further explore the balanced path between technology empowerment and cultural inheritance." The activity concluded successfully with a group photo of all teachers and students.
