Recently, the Future Planner – "Guangzhou Planning Cup" 5th National College Students' Territorial Spatial Planning and Design Competition and the 3rd Urban and Rural Planning Graduation Design (Thesis) Competition successfully concluded at South China University of Technology. As one of the highest-level and most authoritative professional competitions in China's urban and rural planning field, this year's competition was guided by the Territorial Spatial Planning Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources, hosted by the Human Resources Development Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and co-organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Natural Resources, the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources, and the School of Architecture of South China University of Technology.
Team from the School of Architecture of our university performed exceptionally well in this competition. Among the five participating works, one won the First Prize, three won the Second Prize in the undergraduate group, and one won the Third Prize in the postgraduate group. Two teachers, Yu Kanhua and Yang Juntao, won the Excellent Instructor Award, and the school won the Excellent Organization Award. Student Li Jiajun was awarded the title of "Honorary Planner" and delivered a speech as an undergraduate representative at the closing ceremony.
With the theme of "Planning Leads High-Quality Renewal, Design Empowers New-Quality Productive Forces", this year's competition closely aligned with the pulse of the times and attracted more than 1,000 teachers and students from over 200 universities across the country to participate in the competition. The outstanding performance of our university in this competition fully demonstrates the remarkable achievements of the School of Architecture in cultivating talents in territorial spatial planning, and showcases the professional strength of the teacher-student team in serving national strategic needs and aligning with the cutting-edge development of the industry. The achievement of these results is not only an affirmation of the school's teaching quality and scientific research level, but also lays a solid foundation for further improving the level of discipline construction and cultivating planning talents in the new era.
