The theme of the event was "Weaving Future Life and Production: Sustainable Development in Northern Metropolitan Areas." The event attracted faculty and students from numerous Asian universities.
IFoU is an important international academic organization initiated by Professor Wu Liangyong of Tsinghua University. It has now formed an educational and scientific research network consisting of 26 international universities, research institutions and knowledge centers, and is committed to promoting academic exchanges and cooperation in the fields of global urbanization and regional planning.
This winter camp, centered around a joint design workshop, focused on the sustainable development of Fantian Village in San Tin District, Hong Kong. Our faculty and students joined three groups, each focusing on ecological restoration, quality living, and village revitalization. They conducted field research, collaborative design, and in-depth discussions with faculty and students from Nanjing University, the National University of Singapore, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain, City University of Hong Kong, Kyungnam National University in South Korea, National Taiwan University, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The groups developed distinctive design proposals, which were presented at the final defense on the afternoon of the 17th. The final presentation took place in Hong Kong on the 18th.
An urban forum titled “Northern Metropolitan Area: Weaving Future Life and Production” was held in Central Plaza, where each group presented and explained their plans to the public.
This winter camp further expanded exchanges between the college and international universities, strengthened in-depth cooperation in areas such as urban and rural development and cultural heritage protection, and provided a broad international learning platform for our faculty and students, enhancing their international perspectives and professional capabilities, and improving their scientific research capabilities. In the future, the college will expand global collaborations and promote the integration of disciplines with cutting-edge topics.
