At 10:00 AM on May 7th, the School of Architecture held an expert review meeting in the third-floor conference room of the Architecture Building in the West Courtyard of the South Campus to discuss the proposal for Chang'an University's independent doctoral program in urban and rural planning, categorized as a "city renewal" discipline. The meeting was conducted in a combination of online and offline formats. Professor Lei Zhendong of the School of Architecture at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology served as the chairperson of the expert panel. The panel included seven peer experts and management experts: Professor Luo Xiaolong from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Nanjing University , Professor Huang Yong from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Chongqing University, Professor Yang Hui from the School of Architecture at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, Professor Zhai Binqing from the School of Human Settlements and Architectural Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Li Jianwei from the School of Urban and Environmental Sciences at Northwest University, and Professor Huang Xiaoyan from the Northwest Land and Resources Research Center at Shaanxi Normal University. The review meeting was chaired by Professor Hou Quanhua, Dean of the School of Architecture.

Xu Wei, Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Chang'an University, warmly welcomed the arrival of the review team and introduced the basic situation of the secondary discipline demonstration plan. He hoped that through the review, the construction of the secondary discipline doctoral program outside the "Urban Renewal" catalog of the School of Architecture would be further promoted.

Professor Chen Wenliang, Vice Dean of the School of Architecture, gave a report covering five aspects: basic situation of the discipline, justification for setting up the discipline, construction foundation, talent training, and development planning.

The review expert group carefully reviewed the demonstration plan. They affirmed the necessity of setting up a secondary discipline outside the "Urban Renewal" catalog, and believed that this discipline meets the urgent needs of promoting high-quality urban development in the new era. At the same time, experts suggested that the college should take the construction of the new doctoral program as an opportunity to promote multidisciplinary integration, form a clear enrollment direction, continue to strengthen the construction of the faculty team, and produce influential results as soon as possible. At the same time, it is necessary to provide solid talent support for the national urban renewal strategy and cultivate high-quality, compound professional talents that meet the needs of the new era. Subsequently, the vice deans of the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Economics and Management, and the School of Water Resources and Environment of Chang'an University all expressed their active support for the construction of the secondary discipline doctoral program in urban renewal.
Finally, Hou Quanhua, Dean of the School of Architecture, said that the school will seriously absorb the opinions and suggestions of experts, steadily advance the rectification work, and use this demonstration as a breakthrough to further tap the potential of the discipline, continue to deepen exploration and reform, and strive to make greater contributions to building a high-level collaborative innovation platform in the new era.
Leaders from relevant colleges such as the School of Civil Engineering, School of Economics and Management, and School of Water Resources and Environment attended the meeting.
