On the afternoon of May 7, the School of Architecture convened a review meeting on the doctoral training program in Urban and Rural Planning at the third-floor conference room of the Architecture Building, West Campus, South Campus of Chang’an University. Professor Lei Zhendong, Dean of the School of Architecture at Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology and member of the 8th Academic Review Committee of Urban and Rural Planning under the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, served as the chair of the expert review panel. The panel also included Professor Luo Xiaolong from Nanjing University, Professor Huang Yong from Chongqing University, Professor Yang Hui from Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, Professor Zhai Binqing from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Professor Li Jianwei from Northwest University, and Professor Huang Xiaoyan from the Northwest Land Resources Research Center of Shaanxi Normal University. These seven distinguished experts from domestic universities and research institutions formed the review group. The meeting was chaired by Professor Hou Quanhua, Dean of the School of Architecture.
Xu Wei, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, extended a warm welcome and sincere appreciation to the experts for their guidance, expressing the hope that the review would further advance the doctoral training in Urban and Rural Planning at the university.
Associate Professor Tan Jingbin, Director of the Department of Urban and Rural Planning, presented a detailed report on the doctoral training program, covering aspects such as training objectives, duration of study and structure, curriculum design and credit requirements, research and academic achievements, as well as dissertation and defense requirements.
The expert panel conducted a thorough review and discussion of the doctoral training program. On behalf of the panel, Professor Lei Zhendong provided feedback, affirming the program’s rationality in terms of training objectives, curriculum design, and academic environment. He suggested further optimizing the credit structure, clarifying mechanisms for doctoral students’ participation in international academic conferences and exchanges, and continuously enhancing the quality of doctoral education.
Professor Hou Quanhua expressed gratitude for the constructive feedback and emphasized that the School will carefully incorporate the experts’ opinions and suggestions, promptly refine and improve the training program, further optimize the curriculum and credit system, strengthen international exchange and cooperation mechanisms, and continuously improve the quality of doctoral training.
